Obituary

Zula Fae Hickey Moore, "Fae" as she was familiarly known, passed from this life to her Eternal reward on Wednesday, November 1 at her son, Clay's home in Yukon. Her friendly and outgoing spirit left a great host of friends and acquaintances to mourn her passing. God and her church have been an important part of her life. She was baptized into the Nazarene Church as a teenager, and faithfully attended and supported First Church of the Nazarene in Yukon. After marriage, she became an early organizer and charter member of Council Road Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School, played the piano and regularly sang special music for the services. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Newcastle, OK for the past 25 years. Learned the value of work early, helping grow and sell produce from her father's farm at Mustang. The family later moved to Bethany, where she became a part-time employee at Bethany TG&Y as a high school student. During her first semester at Bethany Nazarene College (now SNU), she met the love of her life, Tom Moore at a Nazarene Sunday School Party. They were joined in marriage at First Nazarene Church in Oklahoma City on June 16, 1953 by Rev. R. T. Williams, who was known as "The Singing Pastor." While living in Bethany, she received her Cosmetology License, and worked as a beautician at various times in Oklahoma and Texas. She was a supportive wife and mother, moving as Tom's career required, first to Dallas, then to Lubbock, before being transferred back to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In Lubbock, she received a Nursing License, and worked as a nurse with a leading West Texas heart specialist, Dr. Sam King. Later, she worked in ICU at Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City, then at Talley-Walker in Marlow. As Activity Director for Salvation Army Senior Citizens Activity Center, she was awarded the Key to the City by Warr Acres Mayor for work with the Senior Citizen program. She assisted her husband, Tom, in developing and operating a Mockingbird Mobile Home Park at Marlow, as well as a mobile home dealership. For 17 years she started and ran the Faith and Fitness Program at First Baptist Church, Newcastle and ran the annual health fair at the church. Zula Fae was preceded in death by two brothers, Nathan Wesley and Lyndel Lorell Hickey; a sister, Clara Janelle; and her parents, James Arvle Hickey and Clara Belle Hickey.
