Zita Mae was born on August 4, 1917, in Guymon, OK, the daughter of Daniel Morrey and Mary Margaret (Van Buskiak) Holmes. She married Loran Glen Miller on May 5, 1946 in Cooperton, OK. They were married for 37 years, until his death on December 10th 1983. She is survived by her daughter Carol and son-in-law Monty Tumbleson, from Piedmont, and three grandchildren and their wives: Jason and wife Crystal, of Murrieta, CA, Steve and wife Mariah, and Jeff, all of Oklahoma City, and 5 great grandchildren: Devin, Tristan, Alyssa, Kaitlyn, Raelynn. She is also survived by multiple nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and multiple life long friends. She was a much beloved grandmother (and great grandmother, known as "G-G") who always had a kind word or thought for each and every child. She graduated from Bethany Penial Nazarene College in 1945 with a B.S. in Education. Zita was a licensed minister and then progressed into education for more than 30 years, 20 of those years spent at Putnam City Central Elementary. After she retired, Zita Mae continued to help children reach their educational goals as an in-school tutor. She was a member of the Metroplex Church of the Nazarene from 1956 till present. Zita Mae loved everyone for who they were; she accepted you just as your came and reminded you constantly that Jesus loved you and was a grateful Savior. She took pride in the fact that after a conversation with a great grandson, she was told by him that "You know good stuff, Grandma." She was willing to share her wisdom, guidance, and teach you the gift of forgiveness. Viewing will be from 11am - 9pm, Sunday,Sept 17, with the family present from 3:00 - 5:00 pm at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service. Services will be Monday, Sept. 17, 10:00am at Metroplex Fellowship Church of the Narzarene with Graveside Services at Springhill Cemetery in Cooperton, Oklahoma.
