Winifred G. Howard, 97, of Bethany, Oklahoma, went to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ, on July 17, 2018. Mrs. Howard was born December 20, 1920, in Moscow, Idaho, to Rev. John S. and Letha (Jones) Maddox. On August 25, 1943, she was married to Rev. Richard E. Howard in Salem, Ohio, embarking on a 65-year adventure of ministry, travel, and writing, with all the joys and struggles that a life of ministry brings. She earned an AB degree in English Literature from Eastern Nazarene College (ENU) and a Masters in Education from Central State University (UCO), teaching six years in the English department at Bethany Nazarene College (SNU). Winnie was a faithful member of Bethany First Church of the Nazarene and attended the Fellowship Sunday School class as long as her health allowed. Mrs. Howard was preceded in death by her husband, Dick, her parents, and her sister, Carol Jones. She is survived by her daughter, Judith C. Duey and husband, Carl, her son, Roy N. Howard, four grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be Saturday, July 28 at 2:00pm at the Mercer-Adams Chapel in Bethany.
