Wilma Nadine White (born Wilma Nadine Mosely), went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday October 17, 2022 at the age of 97. She was born near Byars, Oklahoma on December 9, 1924. Parents were William Lee Mosely and Iva Ruth (Scott) Mosely. Although she was the first born, she was the last surviving of three siblings, preceded in death by Virgil Zane Mosely and Joyce Mosely Wells. She is survived by three children, Stephen Michael White (and wife Audrey), Elaine Jones (and husband Lee), and Kathy Woodland (and husband Ray), as well as 14 grandchildren, 1 grandchild who preceded her in death, 32 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ben White.
She lived her early life on a farm in Rosedale, Oklahoma before coming to the Oklahoma City area in February, 1945 to work at Tinker Field (now Tinker AFB) in Midwest City. During that time, she decided to take voice lessons, and found an instructor at OCU. Before long, she decided to quit her job and attend college at OCU with a major in Music, and obtained a Bachelor of Music degree. Music has been a big part of her life, and the sound of her trained voice has blessed many people over the years. Her parents and sister later moved to Purcell, a short distance from Rosedale.
She married in July, 1953, and was married until her husband, Ben White, died in January 1989. During her early married life, she moved to the Oklahoma City area (first, the downtown area, and finally Warr Acres) from Midwest City. During that time, and up until the time of her death, she was a devoted mother and grandmother, and always put everyone else first, doing everything she could to help others - not just her family, but so many others as well. It can be truly said that everyone who knew her for any length of time realized she was no ordinary woman, but a true servant, always faithful to others and to her Lord. Like many members of the "Greatest Generation", she was faced with difficult circumstances over the years, but her inner strength and goodness always prevailed, not just due to her exceptional character, but more importantly, due to her relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
In 1968, she and several other family members joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and quickly became involved with ministry and service at the local stake in Warr Acres.
Another notable chapter in her life was her employment at American Fidelity Insurance on Classen Blvd, which lasted 21 years. She retired from there with honors, and began caring for her grandchild, John White, in 1993. Many years later, she cared for another grandchild, Matthew White, in 2008, while still in Oklahoma City.
At the age of 90, she became unable to live independently, and left Oklahoma City to live with her daughters and close by to their families in Idaho. She quickly became a blessing to all the family members living there.
She was able to stay alert and sharp during all of her 97 years, until the Lord said it was time to come home. On October 17, 2022, that time finally came, and she entered into His rest.
