Obituary

Wilma Jean Booze Haggard was born June 25, 1931 to Orie and Ruth Booze in Enid, Oklahoma. She passed away on July 18, 2017 at home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. On July 15, 1951, she was married to Bill C. Haggard at the First Baptist Church at Woodward, Oklahoma. They spent their honeymoon on a trip to Fort Worth, Texas where they enrolled in the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, which was to be their home for the next four years. To this union were added three daughters, Debra Denise, Dena Renee, and Danisa Lynn, and one son, Danny Charles, who preceded her in death. Through these years, Wilma has been a faithful, loving mother and a model pastor's wife. She was a loving mother whose priority was to always be present and available to love, guide, and nurture her children. Because Bill's work as a pastor and a Baptist Convention associate required him to be away from home much of the time, Wilma had to fill the role of both "mom and dad", which she did with amazing and superb efficiency. Wilma is survived by a host of friends and family members, including her husband of 66 years, Bill C. Haggard, three daughters, Debbie and her husband Mike Dawes, Dena and her husband Dave Evans, and Danisa and her husband Cris Lowery, nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. "Without the love, support and counsel of Wilma, I, Bill Haggard, could never have carried out my ministry. She has, for 66 years, been my alter ego, my love, my partner in God's work, and my most faithful constructive critic. She has always been the love of my life. These simple words can never express my love and appreciation for her. Thank God for the help mate you have provided me." "The Lord gives, and the Lord takes away. Blessed be the name of the Lord." (Job 1:21) Visitation will be Wednesday, 9am-9pm, with family present from 6-8pm at Mercer-Adams. Services will be Thursday, July 20, 11:00am at Putnam City Baptist Church with interment in Spring Creek Memorial Cemetery. Memorial Service Thursday, July 20, 2017 11:00 AM Putnam City Baptist Church 11401 N. Rockwell Avenue Oklahoma City, OK 73162
