William B. Purcell went to be with the Lord on Jan. 14, 2019 at the age of 79. He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Purcell. Bill is survived by his two daughters, Karen Clanton and Diane (Eric) Davies; grandchildren, Tiffany (Jeremy) Dalatri, Megan (Shane) Williams, Kayla Robinson, Austin Davies and Kaitlyn Davies; and great-grandchildren, Ariona, Zakkary, Dewan, Decalun and Alayna. Bill was a very generous man and would help anyone in need. He loved his wife, Darlene, and stayed by her side through her 13-year battle with Alzheimers. Taking care of her showed his daughters even more how much he loved their mother. His love was visible to all though his actions. Several years after Darlenes passing, Bill met Jan Gibson in Bible study at church and they fell in love. They were together until he passed. Bill had a 22-year career in the Coast Guard. He started as a telephone technician and retired as a Master Chief. After retirement, he became a heating and air technician and also worked for the General Services Administration. He will be missed by family and many friends. Viewing will be Thurs., 9am to 9pm at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service.
