Obituary

William Allen "Tex" Horton 12-21-1929 to 10-20-2017 William Allen Horton went home to be with his Lord on Friday, October 20, 2017. He was born to proud parents Ross and Bessie (Keller) Horton, December 21, 1929 in Cumby, Texas. He entered the Army in 1946 at the age of 17. In 1949, he met Doris Jean Wallen while stationed at the Army Language School in Presidio in Monterey, California. On April 30, 1950, Tex married Jean. He served his country in the Korean War and received the Purple Heart. Tex and Jean had three sons, Gary, Terry and James. While serving in Vietnam, Sergeant Major William A. Horton was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious achievement in ground operations against hostile forces during the period of April, 1968 to May, 1969 in the Republic of Vietnam. Grandad Tex was devoted to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and he loved spending time with them. He was a devout member of First Baptist Church of Bethany since 1971. He especially loved his Sunday School Class. He is survived by sons, Terry Horton of Fort Worth, TX, Gary Horton and wife, Judy, of Bethany, OK, James Horton and wife, Carla, of Piedmont, OK; grandsons, David of Fort Worth, TX, Andy Horton and wife, Priscilla, of Columbia Falls, MT, Josh Horton and wife, Chelsea, of Victoria, TX, Dallas Horton and wife, Rachel, of Phoenex, AZ, Austin Horton and wife, Isabella, of OKC, OK; great grandchildren, Andrew, Joseph and William Horton from Phoenix, AZ and Kaylee and Avery Horton from Columbia Falls, MT. He is also survived by his brother, Bill Jack Horton and wife, Tommie, of Ridgeway, TX. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Jean Horton; parents, Ross and Bessie Horton; sister, Delores Harper; and daughter-in-law, Sandy Horton.
