William D. (Bill) Delzell, age 64, died Monday, November 24, 2008 in his home, lovingly surrounded by his family. Born in Rome, New York, Bill spent his early years in Biloxi, Mississippi, moving to Wichita Falls, Texas at age 5. Bill graduated from Wichita Falls High School, and attended the University of Southern Mississippi prior to enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. During his years in Wichita Falls, Bill was a member of the well-known rhythm & blues band, The Syndicate. Following his service in the Marine Corps, Bill began his career with Geolograph Oil Services. After relocating to Oklahoma City, Bill was employed by Trane Corporation, where he was a director of sales. A loving, thoughtful and kind husband, father, son, brother, grandfather and uncle, Bill was a member of the Episcopal faith.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hugh Wayland Delzell. Bill is survived by his wife, Darlene; son, Todd (Laura) of Rockwall, TX; daughter, Tandy (Terry) Warren of Lindsay, OK; son, Shayne (Christy) Ellison of Trophy Club, TX; and son, Todd (Michelle) Ellison of Red Oak, TX. Bill is also survived by his mother, Lillian Delzell of Wichita Falls, TX; sister, Karen (Bill) Lucas of Ocean Springs, MS; grandchildren: Kayla & Ryan Delzell; Joshua & Jacob Warren; Matt, Jeremy & Katie Ellison; Bobby, Zack, Courtney, Alexis & Micah Ellison; niece Amy (Chris) Rasmussen and nephew Brian (Bonni) Strong. Bill left a legacy of generosity and self-sacrifice for both his family and friends. Pallbearers are Todd Delzell, Matt Ellison, Terry Warren, Joshua Warren, Shayne Ellison and Robert Watson. Honorary pallbearers are Todd Ellison and Brian Strong.
Viewing will be Friday, November 28th with family visitation beginning 6:00 p.m. at Mercer-Adams. The funeral services will be held Saturday, November 29th, 2:00 p.m. at Mercer-Adams Chapel with burial following in Resurrection Cemetery.
