Obituary

William Park, affectionately known as "Willie" and "Bill," was born on a farm near Mulhall, Oklahoma, on November 9, 1938. He passed away on July 30, 2025 in Guthrie, Oklahoma. When Bill was about to be born, his father, Henry, went to Guthrie to fetch a doctor. However, by the time he returned, Bill had already arrived with the help of Henry's mother, Vinnie Park. Bill was so tiny that his father placed him in one of his shoeboxes to bring him safely to his mother, Mary.

Bill was raised on a farm northwest of Coyle, Oklahoma, and graduated from Coyle High School in the spring of 1956. In January 1957, he began his studies at Midwest Christian College, earning a Bachelor of Christian Education degree in 1962. Bill pursued further graduate work at Emanuel Christian Seminary, completing four years toward a degree in Religious Education, and continued his studies at the University of North Carolina, Central Indiana University, and Trinity Seminary.

During his ministry at Traders Point Christian Church in Indianapolis, Indiana, Bill played a key role in establishing the Indiana Benevolent Association and the Indiana Christian Retirement Park, a retirement home for 400 residents. He also served as an educator at Manhattan Christian College, Winston-Salem Bible College, and Midwest Christian College. One of his students, Jerl Joslin, fondly recalled, "Bill was my favorite teacher because he always gave me straight A's."

Bill met and married his wife and lifelong companion, Vinita Ann (Bolster) Park, while she was a student at Midwest Christian College. Together, they ministered in churches across North Carolina, Indiana, Kansas, and Oklahoma, with their longest service at North Side Christian Church in Oklahoma City, where Bill led the establishment of a daughter church in Edmond.

Bill and Vinita served together in ministry for over 50 years, retiring for the first time in 2002 when Bill formed his own home inspection company, which required new study and certification. After retiring again, Bill became a certified hospice chaplain, serving an additional ten years on weekends at First Christian Church in Orlando, Oklahoma. He also served part-time as a minister for four years at his hometown church in Coyle before retiring again. Bill and Vinita made their retirement home in Edmond, Oklahoma, to be near their daughter and her family.

Throughout their ministry, Bill and Vinita held revival meetings across the Midwest, with Bill drawing fluorescent-colored chalk pictures to accompany songs that Vinita sang. One of Bill's favorite pastimes was playing table games and ping-pong with his grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mary Park; and his sister, Wilma.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Vinita Ann (Bolster) Park; his children, Sherri R. Allsbury (husband Randy), Steven S. Park, and Berton W. Park (wife Gina, deceased; wife Elizabeth); and by his siblings, Betty Ellis (husband Clay, deceased), and Robert Park (wife Shelia, deceased; wife Alice, deceased). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ashley Farmer (husband James), Austin Allsbury, Avery Allsbury (wife Paige), Amy Allsbury, Alexander Joseph Allsbury; David Park (wife Samantha), Dylan Park (wife Melody), Jordan Park (wife Krista), Haley Warwick (husband Caleb), Bailey Roach (husband William), and Brooklyn Logsdon (husband Luke). In addition, he is survived by fifteen great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.

A viewing and time of fellowship will be held on Wednesday, August 6 from 6-8pm at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service in Bethany, Oklahoma. The funeral service for Bill will be held at Mulhall Christian Church on Thursday, August 7 at 1:00pm.
