Obituary

Wendell F. Cochran, 84, passed away on May 14, 2025, in Oklahoma City, OK. He was born on September 23,1940 to Glenn and Myra Cochran in Cherokee, OK. He married Gwendolyn G. Cochran on February 25,1962, in Higgins, TX.

Wendell retired from Southwestern Bell in 2001 after 40 years of service, where he was known for his skill in locating and repairing problems in the many miles of cables that run underground across the state. He was a veteran of the US Army.

Wendell was an avid ham radio operator and shared that hobby with his father and brother. He was a long-time member of the Edmond amateur radio club and was seldom without one of his radios. He enjoyed camping and traveled with friends in several camping groups after his retirement. He especially loved camping in the mountains to escape the summer heat of Oklahoma. Wendell was a lifelong tinkerer and had an extensive collection of things to fix or reuse. Many new products that hit the market he had somehow already crafted from things that he had saved. He would often say, "I should have patented that!" He loved spending time in his barn where he had crafted an intricate set of pulleys to lift and store things. He attended First United Methodist church of Edmond, OK.

Wendell was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Myra Cochran.

He is survived by his spouse of 63 years, Gwen Cochran; sons, Michael Cochran and Chad Cochran; grandchildren, Cole Cochran, Bryton Cochran, Anna Bechtel, John Page, Chesney Cochran, Larissa Cochran and Courtney Taber; 4 great-grandchildren; and brother, Jim Cochran and his family.
