Obituary

Wayne Taylor, 67, lifelong Oklahoma resident, was called home to be with his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, April 14th after a brief but courageous battle with fibrosis and small cell lung cancer. Wayne was born in OKC to Joe & Elizabeth (Betty) Taylor and grew up attending Crown Heights Christian Church. He attended Harding High School and, upon graduation in 1962, joined the US Navy. Wayne served on two different submarines: the USS Halfbeak and the USS Greenfish. Upon the completion of his military service, Wayne worked for Southwestern Bell installing phones, which is where he met and fell in love with his wife of 35 years, Nancy (Lancaster) Taylor. For the past 39 years Wayne has owned and operated Taylor Foam, Inc., a business his father started in his backyard garage. He loved his work and was excited to see the many projects that were completed around town using his foam! Wayne was a true patriot and loved his country. He was very active in and passionate about politics. He would share his political opinion with you whether you wanted to hear it or not! In 1997 he moved his family from the city to land they owned in far southwestern Canadian County. He loved spending time piddling around the farm with his small herd of cattle. Another one of Waynes newer passions was tending to his garden and greenhouse. He had recently graduated as a Master Gardener. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, of the home; son & daughter-in-law, Mayor Bryan Taylor & wife Lori of Bethany, and son & daughter-in-law, Jason Taylor and wife Gerika of Moore; and his four grandchildren, Skylar, Keegan, Mason, and Mallory. He is also survived by four brothers, Larry Taylor of California, Bruce Taylor & wife Alleen of New Mexico, Allan Taylor of Texas, and Dennis Taylor & wife Barbara of New Mexico; several cousins, numerous nieces and nephews, and more friends than you can imagine! He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe & Betty Taylor; a grandson, Gavin Taylor; and a nephew, Jason Taylor. Viewing will be from 11am-9pm on Sunday with the family receiving friends and family from 1pm-3pm. Funeral services will be held at Covenant Community Church, 2250 N. Mustang Rd in Yukon, OK on Monday April 18, 2011 at 2:00pm. Graveside service immediately following at Chapel Hill Cemetery, 8701 NW Expressway in OKC.
