Herbert Wayne McKamie, Sr., 93, of Bethany, went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on November 29, 2020. After two years of post war service with the US Army, he would return to Arkansas to meet his beautiful wife, Zelna I. Whitlock, on a blind date. Working to provide for their soon to be family he would eventually become a "Sears Man," giving them 28 years. He successfully established himself in his field by centralizing the Searss credit system. He was hired and eventually retired from Zales Corporation to implement the state of the art credit operations. His work ethic was unmatched. He partnered with his wife Zelna to raise 3 boys and lead singing in the Nazarene Church childrens classes. Man, he could raise the roof with "Deep and Wide" and "Onward Christian Soldiers" (Not PC). He was preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Sue and beloved wife of 62 years, Zelna I., his parents, I.A and Sadie McKamie, his brothers, Willie George, Butch and Herman McKamie, sisters, Lois (Polly), Wilma Sprayberry, and Aaron Vines. He is survived by his three sons, H. Wayne McKamie, Jr. (Pamela), J. Andrew McKamie (Rhonda), and Michael S. McKamie (Deborah); grandchildren, Zachary B., Melissa L., Joshua A. (Aubree), Dustin W. (Kristi), Chadwick A. (Kendall), Michele S. Barrera (Aaron), Elise M. Kurtz (A.J.), Mallory J., Boston S. and Brylee R.; great grandchildren, Ronan, Emery, Adalyn Z., Jude, Cohen, Darby, and Dean. He will be deeply missed by the many friends and family he impacted with his love and encouraging manner. Viewing will be Thursday, 9am-9pm, with family present from 5-7pm at Mercer-Adams. Services will be Friday, December 4, 2:00pm at Mercer-Adams Chapel with interment in Bethany Cemetery. .
