Walter Norman Cross passed away peacefully on September 7th, 2009 in Oklahoma City. Norm was born in Ardmore, OK on November 3rd, 1925. He resided in Bethany, OK for most of his life. Norm served in the U.S. Army until 1952 when he was recognized with commendation for his leadership. He received his B.S. in Electronics from O.C.U. in 1957. His career spanned 31 years in Engineering with Western Electric/AT&T.
Norm was a generous, caring person to everyone he came in contact with and lived life to the fullest. He was an ardent OU fan and loved raising his Jalapeo peppers and tomatoes. His loving way will live on in our hearts.
Norm was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Cora Alma Cross, his son, Mark Lynn Cross, his grandson, Patrick Reece Weiner and three sisters, Lucille Rice, June Hickman, and Laverne Bogle.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Helen Cross; his brother, Roy Raymond Cross of Gordonville, TX; his children, Kathy Weiner of Durant, OK, Dana Kennedy of Mustang, OK, Ryan and Shannon Cross of Bartlesville, OK; and step-children, Teresa and Alan Hollis of Houston, TX and Anita and Don Bell of Okla. City, OK. Norm has 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren who will miss him greatly.
Prayer Service and Wake will be held on Sept. 10 at 7:00pm at Mercer-Adams Funeral Home, 3925 N. Asbury, Bethany, OK. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Sept.11, 2009 at 11:00am at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 5024 N. Grove, Okla. City, OK. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, 7801 NW Expressway, Okla. City, OK. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Oklahoma County, 4334 NW Expressway, Okla. City, OK 73116.
