Wallace Dewey Burtcher was born on May 14, 1923, in Oklahoma City, OK, to Everet Wallace and Gertrude Irene (Goodrich) Burtcher. He graduated from Chickasha High School and then served his country in the Army Air Corps. He entered service November 9, 1942, in Oklahoma City, OK serving in WWII in the Japanese theatre (Guam). He received the rank of Flight Officer. Wallace was a radar bombardier on a B-29 and flew over the battleship Missouri when the Japanese surrendered on September 2, 1945. He was discharged in 1946, in Ft. Leavenworth, KS. He married the love of his life, Sara Emma Ward on September 16, 1949. He worked as an electronic repair instructor at Tinker Air Force Base for 40 years. He passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2016, in Oklahoma City, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents. Wallace is survived by his wife of 66 years, Sara; son, Dean and wife Jane; nephew, Jerry Terrell; one grandson, Robert Wallace Burtcher; sister-in-law, Corene Abernathy; numerous nieces and nephews. Viewing will be held at Mercer-Adams in Bethany on Wednesday, August 17, 2016, from 8am-9pm with family present from 5pm-7pm. Services will be Thursday, August 18, 2016, at 11:00am in Mercer Adams Chapel with interment to follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
