Having given her life to Kingdom purposes, Vivian joined her Savior on July 12, 2010. Her steadfast obedience to His calling resulted in a life that blessed her family, friends and countless school children. Eighty-seven years old, she has joined her parents, Gilbert and Lizzie Beckel, and her sisters, Lola and Della, in heaven. As I have now gone from earth to my Heavenly Home, I first give praise to my Heavenly Father for coming to earth to give the gift of salvation. (John 3:16), and I have trusted and received His free gift of Eternal Life. Vivian was born in Woodbine, KS, graduated from Bethany Peniel College, married Leo Birdwell, and taught public school for thirty years. Leo preceded her in death in August, 1989. Vivian returned to Bethany in January, 2000 as a charter member and resident of Southern Plaza Retirement Center. She spent the last ten years of her sweet life using her gift of encouragement in writing letters and cards, her gift of creativity in writing tributes and memories to accompany family heirlooms, and her gift of generosity in supporting efforts to spread the Gospel. Praise be to our Lord and Savior for a life so beautifully lived for His glory. Vivian is survived by one son, Lyle Eugene Birdwell, and two grandsons, Brett and Austin Birdwell of Stroudsburg, PA. A memorial service to honor Vivians dear life will be held on Monday, July 19, at 6:00 P.M. at her home, Southern Plaza Retirement Center, 3737 N. College in Bethany, OK. In lieu of flowers, please give generously to the Gideon Bible Society.
