Virginia Mary Gilbert, age 84, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2026. She was born on April 12, 1942, in Bath, Maine, and lived a life defined by hard work, devotion to family, and a generous spirit that touched all who knew her.

Virginia was preceded in death by her father, Harry Wheatley; her mother, Caroline Wheatley; her brother, Vic Wheatley; and her sister, Pat Wheatley.

She is survived by her loving children, Jeff Gilbert, John Gilbert, Terri Kelso, and Nique Totten; her cherished grandchildren, Samantha and wife Nikita, Taylor, April, and Nathan; and eight beloved great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy.

Virginia earned her Associate Degree from Oklahoma City Community College and spent many years working as an administrative assistant. Most recently, she enjoyed her work as dispatcher for Mr. Rooter, where her dedication, dependability, and friendly nature were appreciated by colleagues and customers alike.

Outside of work, Virginia found happiness in gardening, cooking, keeping up with politics, and, most importantly, spending time with her family. She had a remarkable gift for making others feel welcome and cared for. Her home was always open, serving as a haven where family members could gather, find comfort, and create lasting memories.

Virginia will be remembered for her strength, warmth, and unwavering love for those around her. Her kindness, wisdom, and generous heart leave behind a legacy that will continue to live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all those fortunate enough to have known her.

Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in the countless memories she created and the love she shared so freely throughout her life.

“Her home was her heart, and her heart was always open to family.”
