Virginia Ann
Grilley
Jun 27, 1939 — Apr 1, 2025
Virginia "Ginny" Ann (Staples) Grilley was born June 27, 1939, in Baltimore, Maryland. After 85 years, God called her home on April 1, 2025!
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Lawrence Grilley Jr.; her mother and father, Virginia and Arthur Staples; as well as her brother, Arthur Warren Staples. She leaves behind her immediate family: son, Michael Joseph Grilley and his wife, Dana; and son, Daniel Arthur Grilley. She is also survived by her grandson, Sean Michael Grilley and his wife, Emma; and her granddaughter, Audrey Ann Scout Grilley. She had the joy of becoming a great-grandmother to Sean "SJ" Michael Grilley II, born in June of 2024. Ginny was blessed with extended family in New Jersey, including her sister-in-law, Alma Staples; nephew, Ronnie; and nieces, Teri, Lisa, and Michelle along with their spouses and children.
Ginny spent her childhood growing up on the Ocean Gate, New Jersey shore where she loved rocking to Elvis music and spending time on the beach. She gained a strong love for all things with the ocean, as long as she didn't have to eat any ocean creatures. She was a sharp student in school and graduated Valedictorian of her Ocean Gate, New Jersey High School. After graduation, she received her associate's degree in Secretarial Science from Elizabeth Town College in Pennsylvania which landed her a job working for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) based out of Madrid, Spain in 1959. There she met her handsome Marine Corps husband and they were soon married back in the USA in 1961.
After marriage, Ginny and her husband, John, moved back to his home state, The Great State of Oklahoma, and began their family and careers. Ginny started her stateside career in 1964 at TG&Y and transferred in 1986 to Trammel Crow Real Estate / Coldwell Banker until she retired in 2008.
Through the years, Ginny became a true Sooner Fan. She enjoyed supporting the Coast Guard Auxiliary, bowling, reading, gardening, painting, traveling to the Jersey Shore, cuddling with her cats, and dearly loved spending time with her family and friends, especially playing card games such as Bridge and Hands & Feet. She will be missed by her family and countless friends.
Funeral services will be Monday, April 7, 2:00pm, at Mercer-Adams Chapel in Bethany, OK.
