Obituary

Viola "Vickie" Jacobs was born on December 15, 1932 in Brimson, Minnesota, embraced a life that reflected her unwavering dedication to family, boundless talents, and a profound love for the outdoors. On November 13, 2023, she peacefully joined our Lord, leaving behind a legacy that touched the lives of many.

As the youngest of six children born to Jack and Martha Juntunen, Vickie's family was the cornerstone of her existence. Her journey of love and companionship began on March 16, 1966, when she married George "Jake" Jacobs. Their union blessed them with three children and took them on a remarkable adventure, traversing the globe during Jake's twenty years of service in the USAF.

Vickie's life was a canvas of diverse talents. From painting and drawing to sewing and singing with a band in her youth, she expressed herself with creativity and passion. An avid fisherman, hunter, and lover of the outdoors, Vickie reveled in family camping trips, creating cherished memories under the open sky.

Her professional path mirrored her caring nature. Vickie dedicated herself to her family by working at her children's schools, serving as an exceptional Girl Scout leader and bowling coach. Later in life, she discovered her calling as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), dedicating two decades to caring for patients and their families. Even after retiring from nursing, Vickie continued to work until the age of 84.

Vickie was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Helen; and brothers, Art, Leo, Jake, and Roy. She also bid farewell to her son, Kenneth; and her beloved husband of 29 years, Jake.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, survived by her daughters, Kathleen Griffith and husband Doug of Point Marion, PA, and Tracy Jacobs-Fife and husband Bruce of Yukon, OK. Five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren will forever cherish the warmth of her love.

Viola "Vickie" Jacobs was not only a beacon of grace and beauty but also a symbol of enduring spirit. Her life serves as a testament to the strength and resilience that defined an era.

Her enduring sense of humor illuminated the lives of those around her, making the world a better place. Beyond words, she will be missed, but her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

A private burial took place on Friday, November 17, 2023, at Fort Sill Army Base cemetery.
