Viola Vicki Horner Newman, 89, of Oklahoma City, passed away peacefully in her home, Sunday, October 16, 2016 after a long battle with Parkinsons disease. Vicki was the daughter of Neil Newman and Viola Irene (Riggert) Norsworthy. Vicki met and married Louis Lawes on August 12, 1946 in Oklahoma City, OK. They eventually moved to South Louisiana where they raised four children. After the death of Louis, she moved back to Oklahoma City to be with family and friends. Vicki was very active with her friends, church and community. She enjoyed traveling, baking, spending time with friends and family and playing games such as dominoes and cards. She was a member of the church choir, worked at the Food Bank, and enjoyed the fellowship of her Sunday School Class at Council Road Baptist Church. Vicki is survived by her children: Carol Lawes, Larry Lawes, Linda Elliott and Kitt Lawes; 9 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 great-grandsons.
