Vernita (Nita) Faye Spreier of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, left this world to go to her heavenly home, on Monday, August, 15, 2016 at the age of 76. Today Nita is free from pain and is no longer suffering as she is at rest with her Savior. Nita was born on March 25, 1940 in Paradise, Kansas to Vernon and Faye Miller. She joined her sister Helen, and brothers Raymond, Wayne, Marvin, Frankie, and Dean. Following her mothers death and her father was no longer able to take care of his children; Nita and Dean were adopted by Irvin and Esther Schmidt of Larned, Kansas. Nita married Duane Weiszbrod in July of 1961. To this union two children were born, Darin and Dana. Duane passed away in November 1963. On December 20, 1965, Nita married Adam Eugene (Gene) Spreier of Larned, Kansas. They moved to Oklahoma City and were married for 36 years before Gene passed away. Nita Graduated from Larned High School, in Larned, Kansas. As a young adult, Nita worked at the Larned Hospital in the Obstetrics Ward as a nursing assistant. She was a stay at home Mom with her children and babysat for many of the neighborhood children until her children entered Junior High School. She then went to work at Bethany General Hospital as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She later attended Redlands Junior College and studied to become a Phlebotomist. Once she had her certificate she went to work for Presbyterian Hospital for about 10 years. Nita then stayed at home to take care of Gene. Gene and Nita were members of Western Oaks Church of the Nazarene and were very active with their Sunday School class. They volunteered with the class at First Indian Church making and serving food and attending services. Gene and Nita often opened their home to college kids coming to Bethany Nazarene College (SNU) to live. Nita enjoyed sewing and working in her yard. She loved dogs and had one up until she was no longer able to care for one. Nita was preceded in death by her parents Vernon and Faye Miller and Irvin and Esther Schmidt. Husbands Duane Weiszbrod and Gene Spreier. Brothers Wayne Miller, Frankie Miller, and Donnie Schmidt. Brother-in-laws Darrell Wrightsman and sister-in-law Earlene Schmidt. Nita is survived by her son Darin Weiszbrod and his wife Eunice of Minco, Oklahoma and daughter Dana Gunter and her husband Clinton of Yukon, Oklahoma. Grandchildren Ashley Gunter, Heather Weiszbrod Nix and husband Derek, and Clint Gunter. Great-Grandchildren Caden and Liam Nix, and Jaclynn Gunter. Siblings Helen Wrightsman, Raymond Miller and his wife Deana, Marvin Miller and his wife Shirley, and Dean Schmidt and many nieces and nephews, family and friends.
