Obituary

Gertrude (Trudy) Cargill passed from this life on March 24 at the age of 92.Trudy was born in Kansas City, Missouri on July 9, 1926. She attended school in Overland Park, Kansas and graduated from Shawnee Mission Rural High School in 1944. While in high school she was a member of National Thespian Dramatic Honor Society and Quill and Scroll. Baptized in the Overland Park Presbyterian Church, she later joined the Church of the Nazarene as a teenager. She attended Southern Nazarene University where she met and married George "Bud" Cargill in 1946. George and Trudy remained married until George's death in 2000. When George became a pastor in the Church of the Nazarene, Trudy served together with him in over 40 years of ministry from Florida to California. She was an active member in the Daughters of the American Revolution serving as secretary for the Oklahoma City Chapter. Trudy also served at the Oklahoma Governors Mansion as a docent for several years. Foremost, Trudy was a wonderful mother to her children and grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Trudy loved Jesus and taught her children to do the same. Her love and prayers will remain in our hearts. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Grace Murphy and husband, George "Bud" Cargill. She is survived by her children, George "Buddy" (Jo Ann) Cargill, Sue Anne (Robert) Lively, Mark (Caleb) Cargill, Jon (Karla) Cargill; grandchildren, Jason "Scott" (Gail) Cargill, Eric (Charlotte) Cargill, Patrick (Alena) Lively, Emily (Chris) Thomas, Sarah (John) Cross, and Ethan Cargill; great-grandchildren, Jason, Matthew, Luke, Porter, Thad, Beau, Cora, George, Henry; and dear friend, Lynn Hickman. Viewing will be Wednesday, 9am-9pm, with family present from 6-8pm. Services will be Thursday, March 28, 10:00am at Mercer-Adams Chapel with interment in Bethany Cemetery.
