Troy H. Nelson, 87, died September 24, 2014. He was born May 14, 1927, in Ashland, OK to Abbie and Elmer Nelson. Troy graduated from Central High School, OKC, after returning from service in the U.S. Navy. His chosen career was meat cutting, which began at Jones Boys in the Stockyards and culminated at 10-M Foods where he became part owner and meat market manager. He was widely known for his breakfast sausage recipe and quality meats. After retirement, he established a small tractor-brush hog service. He was a living testament to the "Greatest Generation" with his impeccable work ethic. He believed in working every day and taking care of your job. On June 2, 1950, he married Mary Lee Peters at Agnew Avenue Christian Church. He is survived by his wife, Mary, of the home; daughters, Neva Nelson Turner, Yukon and Lesia Nelson Raines and husband Sparky of Yukon; 6 grandchildren, Angie and Mike Meadows, Cory Turner and Camille, Lori and James Hickman, Jed Raines, Katie Raines and Josh Curry, Holly and Mike Martin; great-grandchildren, Canton, Cooper, Bear, Audrey, Lukas, Beau, Rose, Zoe and Seth. Viewing will be Sunday, 11am-9pm, with family present from 3-5pm at Mercer-Adams. Services will be Monday, September 29, 10:00am at Mercer-Adams Chapel with interment in Resurrection Cemetery, OKC.
