Obituary

Troy was born in Jefferson Co., Oklahoma, November 4, 1926. He resided in Snyder, Oklahoma and Oklahoma City. He married Mary Jean McClurg in St. Louis, Missouri in 1951, his beloved wife of 62 years. Troy worked at OG&E until 1953. Later, he attended UCO and received a Masters at OU. Troy taught at Classen High School from 1956 to 1965 and was a popular high school counselor at Northwest High School until 1990. Self-taught, Troy was a skilled carpenter, painter, and furniture maker. Troy always enjoyed tinkering with his craftsmen tools, creating handmade toys, furniture for the home, and even a 1901 Ford replica horseless carriage the family rode in the Oklahoma 89'r parades. His greatest joys were his family, being a father and grandpa, a member of May Ave. Methodist Church, feeding the backyard birds, picking pecans, and butter pecan ice cream. The family wants to acknowledge and thank Deaconess Hospital and Select Care for their excellent care of Troy during his stay. Troy is survived by wife, Jean Milburn; his son, Sean and wife Melissa and grandchildren, Merrick and Emily; son, Brent and partner Truett Pool; daughter, Sabrina; sister, Ann Barr; brother, Paul and his wife Ann; and sister-in-law, Pearl Milburn. Services will be held 2:00 pm, Thursday, January 16, 2014 in the Mercer-Adams Chapel with interment in Rose Hill Cemetery.
