Troy Carroll Marlow, 84, of Oklahoma City, passed away on August 5, 2019. Troy Junior was born in Tuttle, OK to Troy and Thelma Marlow on May 28, 1935. Troy Junior and his three younger sisters, Carolyn, Judy and Jane grew up on a dairy farm in Tuttle, OK. Troy attended high school at Tuttle High School in Tuttle, OK.
Troy served in the army from 1954 through 1956 and was stationed in Germany and England. While in the service he met his first wife, Margaret O Boyle. They were married in 1957 and had two wonderful children, Diane and Michael.
After completing his 2 years of military service, Troy went on to work at Western Electric in Oklahoma City painting phones. He then purchased and ran a small gas station for several years in north Oklahoma City.
Troy met and married his beloved wife, Donna Marlow, in November, 1966. They were married for 50 wonderful years. Donna joined Troy in the ownership and operation of their family business, Marlows Landscaping, serving OKC from 1970 through 2006. They raised three children, Gary, Brad and Amy. Amy preceded him in death in 1977. His sons were actively involved in the family business for years.
Troy loved traveling and went to Europe with his family in 1985 and 1990. He also traveled within the United States and enjoyed taking his travel trailer with his family to attend the annual Church Camp Meeting at Wewoka Woods in Oklahoma. He loved having friends over for Sabbath lunch, studying and discussing the Bible, and just enjoying life.
Anyone who has known Troy will often remember him for his quick wit and humor. He loved kidding around and didnt take life too seriously. He had many sayings that many of us may remember. Some of these include: "When did you get out," "see you later, alligator, after while crocodile," " youre not messing with a small-time operator" and "Ill get the big stuff." He would often tell people as he was getting ready to leave: "Well, Im glad you got to see me." He would then laugh with a big irresistible smile just to show he was kidding and not actually being a narcissist. Yes, one of Troys greatest qualities was his sense of humor. He had an ability to put people at ease. Troy, as they say, never met a stranger.
Troy was truly a mans man who was not afraid of hard work. He learned this at an early age growing up on a dairy farm and working with his father. He was always a man of his word. He was physically strong but had a big heart and gentle spirit. He instilled the importance of hard work with his sons while working in the family landscape business. He would often work 6 days a week, but rested and worshipped on Sabbath. He taught his boys that hard work and saving money would pay off in life.
Troy had several passions, first and foremost was spending time working outdoors with his sons, playing steel guitar, traveling, camping with family, and working as a head deacon at his church. It can be truly said that Troy was a wonderful husband, father and friend to many and will be deeply missed.
Troy is survived by his adoring sons, Gary Marlow and his wife, Valorie and Bradley Marlow and his wife, Abigail; 2 granddaughters, Savannah and Haven Marlow; daughter, Diane Banahan (from his first wife, Margaret OBoyle), and her husband, Michael; and grandchildren, Michael Jr., Elizabeth and Samuel Banahan.
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to all the wonderful and loving people at Wolfe Living Center for their great care.
