Trevlyn Anne Cross, age 63 of Edmond, passed away on December 21, 2019. She was born on February 1, 1956, in Akron, Ohio, to Gary and Quata Shivers. The family settled in Oklahoma in the early sixties and she was raised in Bethany, graduating as valedictorian from Putnam City West High School in 1974. She earned a bachelors degree from Central State University and a master of public health degree from the University of Oklahoma. She was one of the first employees of the Oklahoma Health Care Authority and was a recognized expert in rural and tribal healthcare and health policy; she finished her career there in 2012 as the Director of the Indian Health Unit.
As a young woman, Trevlyn was an accomplished artist and pianist. She loved collecting Fiestaware, sugar skulls and unusual art. She will be remembered for doing things her own way, an incredible sense of humor and immense kindness. She never met a stranger, but was happiest when she was with her family, especially her husband, Charles, her four grandsons, and her fur babies, Jingle and Scrappy.
Trevlyn was preceded in death by her father, Gary Shivers and mother, Quata Shivers. She is survived by her loving husband, Charles; daughter, Savannah Stumph (Brad); and grandsons Eli and Gus; daughter, Celena McCord (Chris); and grandsons, Jack and Luke; brother, Doug Shivers (Cindi); and niece, Hannah Combs (Eathan); brother, Dan Shivers (Misty); and stepsons, Kristopher and Andrew Cross.
A memorial service celebrating Trevlyns life will be held at 2:00pm, January 3, 2020 at Mercer-Adams in Bethany, followed by beer and tacos at the Brewers Union. A celebration with some of Trevs favorite things, just as she would have wanted.
