Obituary

Donna Hoskisons "Dear Tom" went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, March 12, 2018. The two lovebirds met when they were just 9 years old at Bethany Schools. Tom remembered being introduced to Donna by their teacher, Mrs. Leonard, who said, "Tommy, sit behind Donna." Donna responded, "Welcome to Bethany, Tommy." He later remarked that "blonde-haired, green-eyed girl made him feel so good like at no other school before!" Of course these two were destined to be high school sweethearts, even being nominated as Bronco King and Queen together their senior year. Donna and Tom spent over 61 glorious years together as husband and wife, and have treasured their four children and 9 grandchildren. Tom had an extensive professional and educational career, holding three masters degrees, as well as a BA in Education. He was the founder of Eagle Rising, LLC, a strategy and people consulting firm. As a 30-year human resources veteran with a broad background in human resources actions, he started a development plan for The City of Bethany, then began Bethany Land Development to further the progress of the city. He was an owner of Express Personnel Services in Little Rock, AR, a Vice President of Human Resources in the states of Missouri and New York, also served as a Labor Relations and Training Director for a wholesale food company in Oklahoma. In addition, Tom was the Vice President of Industrial Relations for an Oklahoma-based manufacturing firm. In addition, Tom was a member on the human resources steering committee of the Food Marketing Institute, a member of the Cornell University Home Study Advisory Board, was appointed by President Nixon to the US Joint Labor Management Committee, and was also appointed by Oklahoma Governor Frank Keating to serve as Regent for Oklahoma City Community College. But anyone who knew Tom knew his deep love for sports. He was a high school coach in baseball, basketball, football, and coached and played semi-pro baseball. He was named to the Oklahoma All-State Baseball Team and played on the 1955 State Championship Team at Bethany High School. He also has been a long-time little league and American Legion baseball coach that he shared with several generations. Tom was named to the "Oklahomas Sportsman of the Month," in August of 1965 by The Daily Oklahoman and Oklahoma City Times. After he "retired" from playing baseball, he was an avid golfer, and savored many rounds with his loved ones and life-long friends. Active in his community, Tom was intricately involved in his church, served as campaign Chair of The United Way, represented the Salvation Army Advisory Board, and was a member of the Rotary Club 29 of Oklahoma City where he received the distinguished Paul Harris Rotarian Award. Toms most lasting impact, however, resided in his legacy that he left with his family and friends his infectious laugh, his contagious joy, the sea of smiles that he left in his wake. He will forever be known as "My Dear Tom", "Daddly", "PaPa Tom", "Grandpa", and "Tommy". As a lover of life, he knew no stranger. A new friend made every day was commonplace for Tom L. Hoskison. The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 16, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Crossings Community Church Chapel, and the viewing will be Thursday, March 15, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Mercer-Adams Funeral Home in Bethany. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Toms memory to the Crossings Community Clinic, 10255 N.
