Obituary

Memorial services for T.J. dAndriole of Bethany, OK are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Thursday, August 6th at St. Eugenes Catholic Church (2400 W. Hefner Rd, Oklahoma City, OK 73120), under the direction of Mercer-Adams Funeral Service. T.J. dAndriole died on Monday, August 3rd, 2009. Born in Taylor, PA on November 19th, 1943 to John and Rose dAndriole, T.J. (Ted) dAndriole moved with his family to Fort Worth, TX and graduated from the University of Houston in Houston, TX. In his young adulthood he met and married the love of his life, Anna dAndriole. Ted dAndriole began his career as a reporter for the Houston Chronicle before pressures to make a decent wage to support his family led him to Southwestern Bell Telephone. Starting as an Information Assistant, through brilliance and diligence he worked his way up to Oklahoma Division Vice-President of Public Relations before his retirement in 1991. An amateur historian and classicist, T.J. dAndriole believed in the Roman concept of service: that service to ones community is one of the highest honors one can strive for. With this in mind, Ted dAndriole volunteered his time selflessly to causes and people around the state of Oklahoma, particularly to the arts and education. This led to numerous positions within many arts and civic organizations around the state, among them, the Oklahoma Arts Institute, The Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence, the Oklahoma City Art Museum, the Kirkpatrick Center Museum Complex, the Jasmine Moran Childrens Museum, the Tulsa opera, the Oklahoma Symphony Orchestra, the University of Oklahoma Press, Oklahoma regents for Higher Education, OETA and Trustee for Oklahoma City University. After retirement from Southwestern Bell, Ted dAndriole served as managing director and vice president for the Allied Arts Foundation, raising over $1.2 million yearly for various arts projects and organizations. After he left Allied Arts, he founded his own public relations firm, The dAndriole Company, which continued to serve clients in Oklahoma City. He is survived by his wife Anna dAndriole of Bethany and children who have followed their father into public service; son John dAndriole of Phoenix AZ and beloved daughter Charlotte dAndriole Smith, a teacher at Classen School of Advanced Studies. Also dear to his heart is grand-niece KaCe Freeman, whom he raised as a daughter; and his grandchildren Jacob Jones, Eloise Cates, Aiden Smith, Vivian Smith, and Rogan Smith. He is also survived by his brother Tom dAndriole and sister, Sharon Born, as well as the numerous young people to whom he was like a father over the decades and gave him more babies to cuddle. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the T.J. dAndriole Scholarship Fund for the Oklahoma Arts Institute will help provide a life changing opportunity for a writing student every year.
