Thomas (Tom) E. Fisher, age 82, of Oklahoma City, passed away April 7, 2014, in Oklahoma City. Tom was born on March 23, 1932 in Richmond, Indiana to Arthur and Helen Fisher. He served in the U.S. Air Force 1950-1954. He married his childhood sweetheart, Martha Catanese Fisher in Orlando, FL at Central Church of the Nazarene on November 28, 1953. Tom and Martha moved to Chicago where Tom attended National College of Chiropractics. He later started a business, T.E. Fisher Company (later renamed TEFCO), a construction business offering paving, striping and sealing for parking lots. Tom was well known throughout the state of Florida in the construction industry for providing high quality and timely work. He left a legacy of buildings, parking lots and concrete structures still in use today, the most notable of his projects were the parking lots at Disney World. An economic downturn in the late seventies and God's will led Tom and his family to move to better opportunities in Oklahoma. After settling into a new life with his family, he reestablished TEFCO and continued to provide parking lot maintenance and precast concrete work throughout Oklahoma City. Prior to retiring at 79 years of age he wrote a curriculum for Francis Tuttle Vocational School and taught for a short time his best practices for concrete work. Tom was a talented tenor soloist who used his gifts for the Lord. Hundreds of people came to know Christ as he traveled for the Nazarene Church as a singing and preaching evangelist throughout Florida and Georgia. Tom was instrumental in starting the very first African American Nazarene Church in Orlando, FL. Tom and Martha attended Orlando Central Church of the Nazarene in the early part of their marriage where Tom led the teen ministry and initiated the Bible Quiz Team program that later was adopted by the general church in Kansas City and deployed throughout the denomination. He started the Sunday School bus ministry to pick up children in neighborhoods near the church to ensure they had a way to hear the word of God and taught adult Sunday School classes throughout his life. He taught his daughters to sing and harmonize and use their gifts for building the kingdom of God. He was a generous and giving man, helping many get their start in the construction industry. He loved working hard and building things and found great purpose in a job well done. He loved the Lord and felt God's call on his life always and found ways to minister while still running a business. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Helen Fisher, and two brothers, James and Ben Fisher. He is survived by his sister Marjorie Toombs, his wife, Martha, of 61 years, three daughters and their spouses Cindy and Jim McCollough, Jennifer and Larry Anderson and Julie and Matt Lee, five grandchildren, Christina Burch, Michael McCollough, Tony McCollough, Mattie Mae Lee and Maddox Lee; and five great grandchildren, Cayden, Tanner, Liam, Nate and Haleigh. The family would like to thank the staff and residents at Sterling House North for their care and friendship to Tom.
