Obituary

Thomas Henry Fields, 63, passed away January 6, 2022 in Bethany, Oklahoma. He was born at the US Military Academy, West Point, NY on February 18, 1958, the 2nd son of Lt. Samuel H. Fields and Sandra Rae Schwartz. Tom earned his Associate of Arts Degree from Allegheny College, MD. After college, Tom worked for the US Forest Service including the inter-agency Hot Shot division in Idaho and Arizona. Tom began his career in Sales Management in the Telecommunications Industry with AT&T in 1982 concluding with Altice Communications. As a young boy, just 12 years old, Tom exemplified the Spirit of the Good Shepherd, always the protector of his younger siblings, Tim, Steve and Heather. He was a role model, offering guidance and coaching in various sports. Steve remembers a chess match that went on into the wee hours of the night (for Tom that was 10:30; he was an early riser from day one). Tim remembers a camping trip by a beautiful waterfall. Heather remembers her first ski trip to Telluride with Tom at her side. Tom was and will always be beloved by all of his siblings. This was big-hearted Toms calling. For Tom, there was nothing stronger than family bonds. Tom and elder brother, Sam S. Fields, shared a very special bond of being "Irish Twins!" Tom, like John Muir, was a lover of the forest. Tom met his beloved fianc, Jennifer Simone, in Pinetop, AZ. There they enjoyed "hitting the slopes" with family and friends. They celebrated their engagement on the Big Island of Hawaii where surviving sisters, Sharon Fields Dewey (Mike) and Heather (Gary) Bailey, and brother, Stephen M. Fields, reside. Wedding plans were put on hold due to Covid. Tom found two new Pups (Autumn and Ash) to love in Bethany and they miss him greatly. Prior to Toms unexpected death, his bags were packed for a return to the slopes of Sunrise, AZ and he was definitely planning a return to Hawaii....perhaps for the wedding. Thomas (Tom) was preceded in death by his father, the late Col. Samuel H. Fields; his uncle, Gen. Thomas F. Healy; his uncles, Dennis A. Schwartz, Rex Peake, and Russell Wells; and Aunt Viola Wells. He is survived by his beloved son, Ryan Arthur Shields and Ryans mother, Renee Shields; step-sister, Jessica Shields (Brian)Hinton and son Mason; his beloved mother, Sandra Schwartz Fields Rees; step-father, John Rees; beloved sisters, Sharon Dewey (Mike), Heather (Gary) Bailey; beloved brothers, Samuel S. Fields, Timothy A. Fields, and Stephen M. Fields; step-mother, Julie Fields; half-sister, Deborah Robillard; aunts, Jackie Peake, Gloria Healy, and Nancy Schwartz; cousins, Kathy Prioreschi, Lori Satchell, Mark Healy, Dan P.
