Obituary

Thomas Cruel Jr. was born on December 15, 1955 to career Army Staff Sergeant Thomas C. Cruel, Sr. and Marguerite (Butler) Cruel while they were stationed in New Orleans. He was the youngest of four children and the only boy. He grew up traveling the world with his family as his father was moved from base to base. Thomas graduated from Douglas High School and excelled in both football and track. He entered college in Iowa on a track scholarship. After graduating with a Bachelors degree he worked as a writer and photojournalist for papers in both McAlester and Seminole. He also worked for a time in Oklahoma City as a professional chef. Thomas was a man of many talents. He loved jazz music and played multiple instruments, especially his drums. He also excelled in painting, cooking, and photography. He married the love of his life, Patricia Wadley, on June 5, 1999 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Afterwards they settled in OKC. In 2013 he began to attend Quail Springs Baptist where Pat was a member. Charles Lillard invited them to visit the Life Principles class and they have been faithful members ever since. Life Principles became a "family" to them, supporting through prayer and encouragement. Thomas became an inspiration and friend to many as he walked by faith through his battle with multiple health issues. Thomas stepped into the presence of his Lord on March 25, 2022 after a hard battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Marguerite Cruel; and sisters, Linda Cruel and Brenda Porter. He is survived by his loving wife, Pat Wadley and his sister, Deborah Colston, along with multiple nieces and nephews. He was loved by many, and we will miss his sense of humor, his smile, and his gentle spirit. Graveside services were held April 1, 2022 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Spencer, OK.
