Thomas Salvatore Cernigliaro, 69, died January 1, 2018 at his home. He was born July 29, 1948 in Jersey City, New Jersey to Thomas and Carmella (Rotilio) Cernigliaro. He grew up in West New York, New Jersey and graduated from St. Josephs Catholic High School in 1966. He was known for his friendly outgoing nature and athletic ability. He attended the University of Oklahoma and played baseball his freshman year. While completing a bachelors degree in Sociology he taught classes as an undergraduate assistant.
He spent two years in Costa Rica as a Peace Corp volunteer, mastering the Spanish language, before returning to Oklahoma and making Edmond his home. He worked as a seismic surveyor, a market researcher, and in industrial sales. He also worked as a soccer official for area youth soccer clubs, middle schools and high schools, mentoring players and new referees. He served as referee assignor for North Oklahoma City Soccer and officiated Adult Spanish League Games.
He was predeceased by both parents and his older brother, Michael. He is survived by Candy, his wife of 30 years, of Edmond; his daughter, Alexandra of Stillwater; cousin, Anita Carr; godsons, Jason Smith and Matthew Montedoro; and lifelong friend, Joan Di'Iorio, and other friends and family.
