Obituary

Theodore (Ted) Stanley Dion, 85, of Bethany, passed from this life on April 26, 2019 at Hospice House Integris, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Elyria, Ohio on November 3, 1933 to Arthur P. Dion and M. Germaine (Will) Dion. Ted and Georgette McAreavey met at a going away party and were married 18 months later on May 9, 1953. He lived in Riverside California, Cleveland Ohio, and Phoenix Arizona before moving to Bethany in 1967. He was a devoted husband and father, who enjoyed coaching his sons baseball team and his daughters softball team. He enjoyed bowling, square dancing, golfing, traveling to see family and watching his grandkids and great grandkids participate in a variety of sporting events. He was an avid Ohio State, Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians, and Texas Rangers fan. Ted loved God, his family and his country and he passed that love on to us. He had a great sense of humor and he never met an argument he didnt love. He passed that down to most of us too. He was the keeper of all our memories through his countless photos and videos. Above all, he loved his family fiercely. He was our protector, mentor and confidant. He was an example to all of us on how to live life the right way. He lived a big beautiful life and we are so lucky to have been part of it. We will miss him dearly but we are comforted by the fact that someday we will all be together again, forever. Ted served in the US Air Force for four years and retired from the Oklahoma Air National Guard as a Tech Sgt with 20 years of service. He retired as an Engineer in 1999 after 39 years at Seagate Technology. Ted leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of almost 66 years, Georgette and his 8 children, Cheryl Aten, Laura Holkum (Johnny), Ted Dion (Janie), Tom Dion, Jimmy Dion (Dellia), Barb Zajac (Ed), Margie Rosenthal (Scott), and Michelle Schender, 19 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Art, sister-in-law Evie, daughter Mary, granddaughter Cyndi and great grandson Aydon. The family wishes to thank the dedicated and compassionate staff of Integris Hospital & Hospice House at Integris, as well as Dr. Dean Brown and his nursing staff for over 30 years of exceptional care.
