Obituary

Terry Lee Smith died on January 18, 2023 in Houston, Texas. He was born on August 25, 1953 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Wilfred Nelson Smith and Mary Ailene Channel. He married the love of his life, Karen Smith on March 29, 1975 in Bethany, OK. He earned his Associates Degree at Whites Ferry Road School of Biblical Preaching, and then earned his Bachelors Degree from Heritage Christian University. Terry worked many jobs, such as construction, route driver, corrections officer, chaplain, telephone engineer, and investigator for department of children and families. In addition, he was a full-time preacher and a missionary for over 19 years, and continued preaching and teaching up to his death. Terry loved planting a huge garden every year, hunting, fishing, sailing, woodworking, raising farm animals and studying his Bible. He also loved living on his sailboat with his beloved wife of almost 48 years. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and loved spending time with family. Terry loved people, and was always willing to help those in need, even if it meant that he did without. He was devoted to Christ, and always found opportunities to share the Gospel. Terry was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Survivors include his wife, Karen Lynne Smith of Corpus Christi, TX; children, Karie Richardson (Aaron) of Newalla, OK, Mary Quade (Kyle) of Yukon, OK and Sarah Miller (Kelly) of Big Spring, TX; 7 grandchildren, Philip Richardson, Benjamin Quade, Elijah Mccoy, Zane Mccoy, Emelia Mccoy, Owen Quade and Lincoln Quade; brother, David Smith (Cindy) of Yukon, OK; and many nieces, nephews and friends all over the world. He will be greatly missed. Viewing will be Thursday, January 26 from 9am to 8pm at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service in Bethany, OK. A celebration of Terrys life will be Friday, January 27 at 10am at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service in Bethany, followed by a short graveside service at Oakland-Knowles Cemetery in Crescent, OK. .
