"Open your eyes, they're everywhere." Its what he said when he was told "miracles dont happen that often." Now we know, he was talking about the hearts of people. And he couldnt have been happier.
After a host of careers including side hustles as a kid selling popcorn outside of the family cafe, brakeman for the railroad, land surveyor, Finance and loan officer, Vice President of several banks, he found his niche. It was on the southside of OKC. As a landlord to many who were oftentimes much less fortunate than most. Where he could be found delaying an eviction until after holidays or giving someone a job painting who needed a hand up. The examples are endless. Which opened the door to his true purpose Using his kindness to gain the trust of people and then talking to them about their relationship with Jesus.
When asked if he was concerned about working in that part of town hed simply point to the 357 handgun and the fake police badge sitting on his desk and then to the hole in the ceiling and joke about giving everyone a warning shot. That was Terry. Concerned about the hearts of people and taking everything else with a grain of salt. And thats his legacy too. In his kids. All of whom express the same concern for the hearts of people. Showing kindness to those in need and mending hearts along the way.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Katie Grotelueschen, sister Phyllis Hoy, brother Don Grotelueschen, identical twin brother Larry Grotelueschen, and niece Janice (Hoy) Ray.
