Teddy K. Wire was born to Kermit D. Wood & Flora Thornton Wood in the small town of Protem, Missouri in the Ozark Mountains. Teddy was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Wire, mother Flora Brown, sister Freddie Cash, and great granddaughter Jocelyn Knighton. She is survived by her four children, Brenda Sinclair, Eddie Wire, Patty Shelhorn, Paula Wire, seven grandchildren, Kevin Kastner, Cherice Kastner, Jami Harber, Stephanie Carr, Spencer Shelhorn, Chelsea Baribeau, Dennis Baribeau, Monika Baribeau and 9 great grandchildren, Tyson, Jordan, Journey, Alexander, Nathan, Harper, Summer, Eden and Vivian.
Before Teddy was born, her father, Kermit, lost his life in an unfortunate vehicle collision. Her mother, Flora, wanting to raise her girls in a holiness church, moved to Harrison, Arkansas to attend the Nazarene Church pastored by Reverand B.N. Wire. Teddy & Freddie soon became close friends with the 11 Wire children from the parsonage next door. At the young age of 14, Teddy became the official piano player for the Harrison Church. She fell in love with Paul and the summer after graduation from Harrison High, she and Paul Wire married. That same summer they moved to Bethany, Oklahoma so Paul could pursue His Ministerial degree at Southern Nazarene University (formerly BNC). After pastoring for a few years, they both felt the call to Missions. They were commissioned as Nazarene Missionaries to Florence, Italy from 1964 to 1968.
Upon returning to Bethany, Paul & Teddy opened Bethany Rite-Way Printing where Mom worked as the composer typist while finishing her education degree. She spent many years teaching 7th grade Oklahoma History at Yukon Junior High School. In 1989, Teddy received a masters degree in counseling from the University of Central Oklahoma and was a long-standing member of Phi-Beta Kappa Honor Society. She served diligently as an aging services counselor for the State of Oklahoma until she retired.
She was an active member of the Nazarene Womens Missionary Society at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene for close to 50 years. Teddy loved the Lord and studying The Bible. She was an avid writer and kept a daily journal of prayers for her children, grandchildren, family and friends.
She enjoyed playing the piano, singing, gardening, swimming and reading. She will be remembered as a loving, supportive wife and mother, a hard working career woman and most importantly, a wonderful conversationalist and friend.
