Ted Thurman
Smith
Aug 13, 1945 — Mar 9, 2024
Ted Thurman Smith, 78, passed away on March 9, 2024 in Bethany, OK. He was born August 13, 1945 to Charles and Juliana (Low) Smith in Santa Ana, CA. The family settled in Oklahoma where Ted graduated from NW Classen HS in 1964. He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard and went on to become an electrician with the IBEW 1141. He married Sue (Goodman) Brown on August 4, 1998 in Las Vegas, NV and the two of them made a home in Bethany for the last 25 years.
Ted was a good man who loved his country, his wife, his kids and grandkids, his family and friends, and his dogs well. He was a prize-winning winemaker who loved collecting antiques, making friends wherever he went, watching Nascar and keeping an eye on his neighborhood. He constantly stayed busy but also knew how to have a good time with friends and family. He was always supportive of his family's and friends' endeavors and would always show up for them however he could, even if it was just by pestering them in good fun.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Tricia Bailey.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Smith; daughter, Shay Smith and husband Harold; son, Rusty Smith and wife Kelli; stepdaughter, Michelle Sarrington and husband Scott; stepson, Donny Blair and wife Angela; goddaughter, Haley Owens and husband Jed; grandchildren, Justin, Jaden, Katelli, Montana, Logan, Luke, Holli, Katelyn, Kagan, Kolvin, and Karson; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Rene' Mateo and husband Bob; brother-in-law, Steve Bailey; and many nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends who loved him dearly.
The world lost a great man with Ted's passing, but he will continue to live on in the hearts and memories of all his family and friends.
