Syble Hawley Scott of Chickasha, formerly of Oklahoma City, was born January 28, 1918 in Swifton, Arkansas, the daughter of Daisy Lane Hawley and E.O. Hawley. She died December 21, 2008 in Chickasha. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Richard Hawley Martin, sister, Jean Curtis, and husband, H.C. Scott. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Linda Martin, of Chickasha; 2 granddaughters, Melissa Loftin and Yvette Jones, El Dorado, Arkansas; sister, Sharon Horton, Oklahoma City; 2 step-granddaughters, Johnna Stephens and Pam Shropshire, Chickasha; nephew Lane Horton, Oklahoma City; step-mother, Gussie Hawley, Oklahoma City; and numerous great-grandchildren and relatives. She was a member of Crown Heights Methodist Church, a graduate of OCU Law School, 1959, member of Iota Tau Tau Sorority, founder of Metropolitan Health Care Association, and owned and operated Windsor Hills Nursing Home until retirement. She was a Legal Secretary for the Oklahoma State Department of Public Welfare. She served many years on the Bingo Committee at Sportsman Club and became the first elected woman on the Board of Directors. She was also a lifetime member of the Oklahoma Nursing Home Association and served on the board of the National Association Board of Examiners for Nursing Home Administrators. Graveside services will be Tuesday, December 23, 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery.
