Susan Kay Thompson, 68, passed away in Shawnee, OK on September 16, 2023. She was born on October 19, 1954 to Dewey and Janice (Johnson) Bennett. Susan was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Allan. She is survived by her daughter, Taylor Curtis and husband Brad; sister, Karen Matthews; and brothers, David Bennett and wife Frieda, and Rick Bennett and wife Heather; one grandson, Cade, who was her pride and joy; as well as several beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Susan was a consummate gardener and artist. She would make friends with anyone who would chat with her and brightened every room she walked into with her smile and contagious energy. From sculpture and pottery to stained glass and welding to weaving and knitting, she passionately dove into every form of visual art she could get her hands on. Susan could never resist a plant or art supply sale, and loved sharing her passions with her friends and family. She loved to cook and bake, always making delicious confections to share with whoever happened to stop by her home.

Susan was a generous woman who found beauty wherever she went and the world is a little darker without her light shining in it. She was well loved by all her family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Memorial services for Susan will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, October 28 at Mercer-Adams Chapel.
