Obituary

Susan M. Lee passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 8, 2019. She was born on November 21, 1950, in Hays, Kansas. Preceded in death by her parents, Maurice and Frankie Ruder, she is survived by her brother, Terry Ruder and his wife Cindi Ruder of Houston, Texas; sister, Jolene Ruder of Oklahoma City; nieces, Angela Stanich and her husband Cliff Stanich of Houston, Texas, and Sarah Mattler and her husband Mike Mattler of Mansfield, Texas; nephews, Joseph Ruder and his wife Lauren Ruder of Farmington Hills, Michigan, and Jasper Staab and his wife Sandra Staab of Honolulu, Hawaii; and numerous great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and good friends. Susan was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Pax Christi, and a professed member of the Secular Franciscans. An avid reader with a passion for learning, Susan earned a Master's Degree in Religious Education from Fordham University, and worked in church ministry for many years. A lifelong activist for social justice, she served as a Catholic Worker, demonstrated for peaceful solutions to global conflicts, and made numerous mission trips to the Middle East and Central America. All who knew her would say she had the courage of her convictions. The family is grateful for the dedicated care Susan received the last week of her life at Mercy Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic Charities, 1232 N. Classen Blvd., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73106, or Catholic Relief Services, P.O. Box 17090, Baltimore, MD 21297-0303. A wake will be held at Mercer-Adams Funeral Home, 3925 N. Asbury Avenue, Bethany, Oklahoma, on Sunday, May 12, at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 5024 N.
