Carolyn "Sue" (Grant) Watson was born January 10th, 1944 in a little room behind the drugstore in Grand Saline, Texas, where the doctor delivered babies; a World War II baby born to Chad and Mavis Grant.
After the war, the family moved to De Rio, TX and moved several other places including Florence, CO, before settling in the Dallas area where Sue lived until she was married. Sue loved music and began playing the piano when she was young. Growing up she played for several school choirs. She also played the saxophone in her high school marching band. Sue graduated from Wilmar-Hutchins High School in 1962. She was voted the most popular in her class. Her family went to church every time the doors were open and Sue asked the Lord into her heart at a young age and faithfully followed Him throughout her life.
Sue met Lindell Watson at Bethany Nazarene College (now Southern Nazarene University) in 1965. She graduated in May of 1966 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Education. Following graduation, she married the love of her life, Lindell, in Dallas, TX on July 30th, 1966. They just celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary.
Sue began her first teaching job teaching 2nd grade in Oklahoma City. The next year they moved to the Houston area. She continued teaching in the public schools for 14 years, teaching also 1st grade, 5th grade, 6th grade, and 7th grade language arts; but she loved teaching first grade the best because she loved teaching children how to read and watching their progress throughout the year.
In May of 1969, they welcomed their first son, Aaron. Three years later, their second son, Russell, was born. Sue loved being a new mom and said that babies were the joy of her life. She was involved in many of their activities and enjoyed every moment of their sports events, concerts and school projects.
When Lindell was called into ministry as a pastor, Sue quit teaching to become Lindells secretary. She was his church secretary for 18 years. During their years in ministry, Sue organized and led childrens choirs in Enid, OK, and Guymon, OK.
After their boys were grown, Sue traveled around the world with her husband and mother and father on various trips including an African Safari and to the Holy Land.
Sue was an accomplished pianist and a lover of reading (especially historical fiction). She loved working in her flower bed, and trying new recipes on her family. Sue loved snow and Christmas and readying her home for the holidays. She was always a delightful hostess, and a true servant at heart.
Sue and Lindell enjoyed spending Friday nights at high school football games in the fall and basketball games in the winter. They loved spending time and laughing with friends and family and especially their grandchildren, whom she loved to spoil. Sue had two daughters-in-law, April and Lori, and eight grandchildren, Avery, Audrey, Ashton, Anna, Addison, Alex, Alli, and Bon who all share Sues love for music. Sue was so proud of all her grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, Chad and Mavis Grant, brother, Charles Douglas Grant, and in-laws, Loy and Luna Watson, Sue is survived by her husband of 51 years, Lindell Watson of Yukon, OK, sons, Aaron and April Watson of Cleveland, MO, and Russell and Lori Watson of Moore, OK, eight grandchildren, sister-in-law, LaDora Grant of Norman, OK, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Larry and Terri Watson of Crandall, TX, and nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
