Steven Tyler
Mesenbrink
Aug 31, 1961 — Nov 23, 2024
Steven T. Mesenbrink, 63, of Oklahoma City, went to join his Lord and Savior on November 23, 2024, in the presence of his family. He had fought a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer for a year. Steve was born on August 31, 1961 in Omaha, Nebraska, to Roger and Caroll Mesenbrink, who have both preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa; daughter, Diana (Mesenbrink) Barr and her husband, Jeremy; son, Daniel Mesenbrink; brothers, Rod and Mark Mesenbrink; brother-in-law, Chris Lagaly and wife, Jeanne; sister-in-law, Patricia Boone; and nieces and nephews.
Steve graduated from Del City High School in 1980. He had always had an interest and a talent for electronics, always tinkering with radios or anything with a motor. After taking a Vo-Tech class, Radio & TV Repair, in high school, Steve took a job as a TV repairman with RCA Corporation in June of 1981, and married his high school sweetheart, Lisa Lagaly, in December of 1981. They had attended church together while dating, and dedicated their lives to the Lord shortly before getting married.
Steve put God and Family first in his life. He ran the sound-board for several of the churches that they attended throughout the years, always getting to church early to make sure that all the instruments and voices sounded their best before the service began. While working full-time and raising a family, he attended evening classes at OSU-OKC, eventually earning an Electronics Engineering degree. (He was, thereafter, passionate about OSU football and anything that was the "beautiful color" of orange.)
During his tenure at RCA, the company was bought by GE. Several years later, when GE closed their repair facility in OKC, Steve found work with AT&T as a Splicing Technician. In 2006 he took a management position as an Engineer with the company, where he remained until his retirement in 2018. Post-retirement, he worked for GW (Glass & Wire) and CHR (a contractor to Pioneer). He retired again in Spring of 2021.
Steve had a love of motorcycles and smooth Jazz music. He and Lisa would often go on motorcycle rides on warm Sunday afternoons. He also loved riding his bicycle around Lake Overholser. The family lived in Yukon, OK, for 33 years. He was very proud of his children and loved spending time with his family, doing home improvement projects (he was an excellent carpenter), and tending his vegetable garden. He loved talking with people and helping friends, family and neighbors with any kind of home-improvement/repair projects. He will be deeply missed, but we rejoice in the knowledge that he is in the presence of the Lord.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 1:00pm in the Crossings Community Church Chapel.
