Stella Mary Franklin was born January 5, 1922 and passed away January 8, 2011. She was born in Pennsylvania but was raised in West Virginia. She was the last survivor of a family of nine. Her husband, Arlin Franklin, predeceased her, but she is survived by her son, Arlin Franklin, Jr. and wife Bonnie of Tulsa, OK. She is also survived by grandson Matthew Franklin of Oklahoma City; niece Phyllis Compton of St. Louis, MO; and nephew Noland Hall of Lancaster, PA. Being raised as a West Virginia poor coal miners daughter, she treasured the poor stories that she always shared with family and friends. She had a successful career at Streets and Sears, managing womens fashion departments. Her personality of never meeting a stranger was ideal for the retail trade and in retirement with The Red Hatters. She will be missed by immediate family and adopted/extended family of (but not limited to) Farmer Family, John Gordon, Hamilton Family, Areta Best-Slusher, Jack Slusher, Gayle Townsend and Virginia Walker-Cyphers. Viewing will be Thursday, noon to 9pm, with funeral services Friday, January 14, 2:00pm, both at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service, Bethany.
