Sonya "Kay" Wellner of OKC, OK went home to her Heavenly Father on August 19, 2015. She was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Patricia Ann and Clyde Herbert Helm on September 8, 1948. She graduated as a LPN in 1971, then went back to RN school and graduated in 1983. Kay retired from Mercy Hospital after 20 years and went on to work at Select Specialty Hospital. Kay spent her life as a caregiver and provided care to her mother, stepfather, Frank Verner and her aunts, Jane Underwood and Mary Atkins. She took care of everyone and everything including finances, groceries, running errands, and total home care. She was always there 100% for her family and friends. Kay will be deeply missed by all who knew her for her generosity, unconditional support and sweet personality. Kay was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 34 years, Charles Anthony Wellner; her parents; and stepfather. She is survived by her daughter, Christina Sparks and husband Lonnie; grandchildren, Justin Kennedy & wife Dominique, Jesse Kennedy and wife Selia, Sharalee Stephens, David, Jesse and Micah Sparks; 5 great-grandchildren, Charlie, Hayden, Samuel, Corbin and Leona; half-brother, Keith Helm; half-sister, Gina Hepburn; and lifelong friend, Cecilia Mooney. Viewing will be Friday, 9am to 9pm with family present from 4-6pm at Mercer-Adams. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 12:30 p.m. at Mercer-Adams Chapel in Bethany, Oklahoma with interment following in Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
