Gerald Glenn (Sonny) Johnston joined his beautiful daughter, Jami DeLenn and beloved son, Shawn Glenn in heaven with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on August 13, 2016. He was born to Charley C. and Opal (Bowerman) Johnston on June 9, 1940 in Konawa, OK. As soon as she saw him, his Mom said, "Well, heres my little "Sonny Boy". Sonny served his country in the USAF, stationed at Clinton-Sherman AFB. He met his "Babe", Carolyn Morgan in Cordell, OK where they were united in marriage on Dec. 1, 1962. Though blessed with 53 years together, it now seems much too short. Left to mourn him with broken hearts are his wife, Carolyn; his loving sons, Steve DeLon (Sheila), Dax Morgan (Kelli); three grandchildren whom he "spoiled abundantly", Reagan, Bryce and Kenzie. He was the best Papa ever! Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Charley, Jack, and J.D.; sister, Lulla Schrader; daughter, Jami; and son, Shawn. Surviving him are one brother, Bill and one sister, Shirley (D.L.), special bonus daughter, Jackie Peterson (Kurt) and more than cousins, Charles and Garneta. He received the most important gift of his life, salvation from his Savior, Jesus Christ at a James Robinson Crusade in May 1966. He and Carolyn were baptized together by Rev. Pete McGuire. Known for hitting a golf ball as straight as you can point, Sonny shot his age or better over 20 times in his life. Sincere gratitude to all of his golf buddies at The Links. He was grateful for every round he got to play with his "boys", Steve, Dax and Bryce. Family and friends will pay tribute to Sonny on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Council Road Baptist Church at 1pm. One of his best friends, Pastor Bill VanBuskirk will officiate. Bill served as his DSM at Tankersley Foods, the company Sonny has been with for many years and loved so very much. A special thanks to Don Tankersley and the entire Tankersley staff. Viewing will be Monday, August 15, 2016 from 8am-9pm at Mercer-Adams in Bethany, OK. Our dearest and funny, husband, Dad and Papa, you are irreplaceable!!
