Sidney Loren
John
Mar 30, 1941 — Apr 9, 2026
Sidney Loren John, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at his home on April 9, 2026, at the age of 85.
Sid was born on March 30, 1941, in Oklahoma City to Marvin Haskell John and Kathryne Irene John. A lifelong resident of Oklahoma City, he built a remarkable career in sales spanning more than 40 years. From tractors to luxury automobiles—where he became one of the top Mercedes salesmen in the country—and later as an aircraft broker, Sid had a natural talent for connecting with people. He never met a stranger and had a lifelong love for making a deal.
Sid proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a man of deep and steady faith. He was an active member of Epiphany Catholic Church, where he served as an usher and participated in the Men's Club.
On August 1, 1970, Sid married the love of his life, Lelia Jean John, in Malvern, Arkansas. He adored his wife and affectionately referred to her as "Shine" or "my bride," a reflection of the enduring love they shared.
Sid will be remembered for his vibrant personality, quick wit, and playful, ornery nature. He had a way of bringing humor into everyday moments and was known for his bold sense of humor that could sometimes catch people off guard but always left a lasting impression. These unforgettable exchanges lovingly earned him the nickname "Maytag," for his unique ability to agitate. He was proud of that nickname. He found joy in conversation, laughter, and making those around him smile. Beneath his teasing spirit was a generous and caring heart, especially when it came to children and his family.
Above all, Sid was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He took immense pride in his family and cherished every opportunity to spend time with them.
Sid is survived by his beloved wife, Lelia Jean John; his children, Misty John, Travis John (Bonnie), and Tonya Smith; and his sister, Mary Delgado (Eloy). He is also survived by his grandchildren: Sydney Moore (Michael), Anthony White (Candice), Amanda Busche (Jason), Andrea Shouse, C.M. Blasdell (Ashley), Skyla Eaton (Jeremy Luke), and Sami Hope (Will).
His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: Kashen and Kamrynn Moore; Carlie Hawk and Amelia White; Jalyn Busche; Auburn and Kailee Shouse; Mason and Marshall Blasdell; and Harlee Hope; and the children of his late granddaughter, Katherine Bradford—Knathaniel, Angela, and Arabella.
Sid was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Merle Cecil John, Marvin Rae John and Ronald John; and his granddaughter, Katherine Bradford.
A viewing will be held Friday, April 17 from 4:00–8:00 p.m. at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 18 at Epiphany Catholic Church in Oklahoma City, with arrangements entrusted to Mercer-Adams Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
Sid's life was marked by love, laughter, faith, and a personality that could never be forgotten. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
