Shirley Jean (Dement) Moore, 77, of Oklahoma City, is at rest with her Lord, as of August 3, 2010. Her passing was ultimate healing from a long struggle with heart and lung disease. Shirley was born on December 9, 1932 in Gibson, Missouri to George and Grace Dement. During the past 77 years, she has lived in St. Louis, MO; Kennett, MO; Little Rock, AR; Memphis, TN; Grand Prairie, TX; Jonesboro, GA and OKC, OK. Shirley and her husband Norris resided at Quail Ridge Assisted Living in Oklahoma City.
Shirley spent most of her career as a business manager for hospitals and physician practices. Shirleys life was very involved in her church through choir, Sunday school teacher, board member, social chairman and regular attendee. She was a member of Bethany First Church of the Nazarene. She was also an engaged mom in the lives of her two daughters.
Shirley was preceded in death by both parents and four siblings. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Norris, of OKC; daughter Karen Allen and husband Dean of OKC; daughter Diane Gassett and husband Bryant of Yukon, OK. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren, Chad Gassett and wife Leah of Weatherford, OK and Cole Gassett of Yukon, OK.
Her family will miss her very much. She constantly gave all she had to those in need. She was a woman of great strength, independence and a fighting spirit. Her struggle with pulmonary fibrosis and heart disease may have taken her life while on earth but she knew her eternal life would bring her the ability to breathe with ease and dance with angels. Bye, Mom. We will see you later in an incredible place. You are loved by many and you will be missed very much. Viewing will be 10am 9pm Thursday with the family receiving guests from 7-8:30pm at Mercer-Adams. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 6, 10:00am at Mercer-Adams Chapel with burial in Resurrection Cemetery.
