On Friday, January 31, Shirley Mercer of Oklahoma City passed away at 89 years of age. She was born on August 14, 1935 in Cromwell, Oklahoma to Onie (Boss) Lane and Millie Marie Garner Lane. She married Marvin Earl Mercer on August 14, 1952 in Ada, OK, and graduated from Vanoss High School, in May, 1953.

Shirley enjoyed reading, watching westerns, and bowling. She loved spending time with family and friends. Shirley retired from American Fidelity as Customer Service Representative after 22 years of service.

Shirley was preceded in death by Marvin, her beloved husband of 56 ½ years; daughter, Gloria Earlene; parents, Onie and Millie Lane; 5 sisters; and 4 brothers.

She is survived by Janet and Gary Millemon, Marsha Boyd, Sharon Benefield, Jennifer and Jeff Moore, Michael and Treba Mercer, Bobby and Nicole Mercer; 16 grandchildren, Kari and Matt Townsend, Krista and Chad Helmer, Kenneth and Crystal Millemon, Marisa Boyd, Randi and Brandon McSwain, Kandi and Kevin Haney, Valeri Benefield, Justin and Tara Moore, Jessica and Lee Cheek, Jordyn and Luke Fillmore, Mallory Mercer, Marriah Mercer, Michael Patrick Mercer, James Mercer, Noel Mercer and Bryan Mercer; 30 great-grandchildren; brother, Weldon (Cotton) Lane; and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed.

Viewing will be Sunday, February 9 from 1:00 – 8:00pm with family present from 2:00-4:00pm at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service. Services will be February 10, 10:00am, at Northwest Baptist Church, Oklahoma City. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur, Oklahoma.
