Shirley McClain died peacefully on April 18, 2018 with her family and friends nearby. Shirley was born to her parents, Al and Kathryn Reddick on March 18, 1940 in OKC.
She graduated from Grant High School in OKC in 1958. Shirley attended her freshman year at Oklahoma State University where she met her husband, Ken McClain. They were married three years later on January 20, 1961 and made their home in OKC, sharing over 57 years of marriage together.
Shirley held down several jobs working with Travelers Insurance Company, Asbury Methodist Church as the church secretary, The Painted Door gift store, fitness instructor for the YMCA, and later as the Vice President of Customer Connection, a company she owned jointly with her husband, Ken McClain.
Shirley was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Ken McClain; son, Tod McClain and wife Brenda; daughter, Kathy Lamont and husband Mark, along with five grandchildren; Ashlyn Lamont, Ben Lamont, Garin McClain and wife Ashley, Shay McClain and Caden McClain; two brothers, Howard Reddick and Don Reddick, both of Denver, CO; and her special little dog, Chico.
Shirley enjoyed being with her family and friends, taking bike rides, camping in the mountains and being with her family and grandchildren for Christmas and other holidays.
Shirley was greatly loved by her family and a host of friends. She was a gifted artist, home decorator, and special friend to all Gods little animals. She had a unique gift of being a long-lasting friend to many and could always make a house, wherever she lived, into a home.
Shirleys strong faith and trust in God allowed her to enjoy life one day at a time, both the sunshine and storms, remaining positive and hopeful. She deeply loved the people God placed in her life.
We all will miss Shirley very much. A memorial service for Shirley will be held at a later date.
