Obituary

The funeral service for Shirley Ann Craig will be held at Kelham Baptist Church, 3400 N. Meridian, Oklahoma City on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at 2:00pm. Burial will follow at Whisler Cemetery, 5211 NW 206th Street. Visitation will be held at Mercer-Adams Funeral Home, 3925 North Asbury Avenue, Bethany, Oklahoma, on Sunday, May 9 from 2:00pm until 8:00pm and Monday, May 10 from 9:00am until 8:00pm. Shirley was born October 25, 1945 in Oklahoma City to Jimmy Lee and Betty Jo (Bymun) Smith. She went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, May 4, 2021. Raised in Oklahoma City, Shirley graduated from Central High School. After completion of cosmetology training, she began a successful 58-year career as a beautician and shop owner. Along the way, she won numerous hair competition awards for her expertise. However, her talents were not limited to cosmetologymany of her clients profess they not only came to her shop for a great hairdo but also for the friendship, love, and fellowship they found there with her. Many problems were solved, and hearts were healed within the walls of that shop. Between raising her children and managing her business, Shirley always found time to hone her skills by taking continuing education classes. In her free time, she also enjoyed art; tole painting, stained glass, oil painting, watercolor, and wood working were among her favorite pastimes. To know Shirley was to love her. She generously offered encouragement and built others up. Her faith was simple but at the same time remarkably profound. She loved God and wanted to make sure everyone around her knew of and experienced His love. She was a child of God and every day she lived was directly impacted by this reality. In the summer of 1978, Shirley met the love of her life, A.C. Craig. The two dated for twelve years before marrying on April 21, 1990. Their 31-year marriage was an incredible Christian example to all. Shirley was a dedicated mother and grandmother. She treasured her family and embraced every moment with them. Frequently, she opened her home for family dinners and game nights. She and A.C. held an annual "Grandparents Camp" for a week each summer which was highly anticipated by all her grandchildren. Shirley is survived by her loving husband, A.C.; her children: Donnie Lugafet and wife, Robin, of Broken Arrow; Tony Lugafet and wife, Becky, of Edmond; Daren Lugafet and wife, LeAnna, of Hutchinson, Kansas; Kim Phagan and husband, Blake, of Edmond; Candi Cooper and husband, Casey, of Fletcher; 11 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Nathan Pokorney of Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmy Lee Smith & Betty Pokorney; and her brothers, Leroy Smith, Danny Smith, and Jimmy Ray Smith. .
