Shannon
Warren (Edwards)
Apr 15, 1954 — Nov 20, 2025
Shannon Warren was fortunate to be born to John Bradford and Fannie Mae Warren on April 15, 1954. John, a lovable business entrepreneur, and Fannie Mae, a dedicated schoolteacher, taught Shannon the importance of integrity, hospitality, generosity and community service.
Married in 2001, Shannon and her husband, Rod Edwards, made their home a place of joy and welcome. Together, they hosted countless holiday and birthday dinners, backyard barbecues and Shannon's various women's groups. Christmas gatherings were especially festive, with Shannon displaying Rod's beloved collection of over 100 Santas, each one bringing back a memory.
After serving as a devoted caregiver for her parents, Shannon accompanied Rod on extended trips to Mayo Clinic. She lost this dear man to cancer in 2015, but remained connected with his two children: Ashley Quinn (Jim) of San Diego and Dylan Edwards of OKC. She took great joy in spoiling her grandchildren, Abigail and Eleanor Edwards and Harrison and Natalie Quinn.
Friendship was the center of Shannon's life. She cherished deep and lasting relationships with women who became her extended family. Together, they shared dinners, laughter, and celebrations, and stood by one another through life's ups and downs. These friendships were among her greatest joys and a constant source of strength throughout her life.
Shannon's "family" expanded when she sponsored several Afghan refugees in 2021. In addition to spoiling eight more children, she was blessed in 2022 to be present for the birth of their "Okie" baby boy. She remained deeply grateful for her sponsor team and countless prayers offered by her church family, St. Luke's Methodist Church.
Before starting her own company in 2003, Shannon was a Human Resources executive, traveling abroad for an international publisher and luxury hotel chain. A graduate of Heritage Hall High School, Shannon achieved a Bachelor's degree in Education from OSU and a Master's in Leadership from OCU. Later, she taught ethics at the graduate level.
While living in Tulsa from 1973 to 1999, she was actively engaged in the Tulsa Speech and Hearing Association, TEEOCA and TAHRA. In OKC, she established the Women's Interfaith Group with friends who have met monthly since 2011. Undaunted by the pandemic, she began hosting the Women's Interracial Unity Group in her backyard garden in 2020. She also organized many multicultural dinners and hosted mentees from the Salt and Light Leadership Team.
Shannon founded and dedicated almost 18 years of her life to a nonprofit organization focused on promoting business ethics. Her hard work and dedication resulted in it growing from six participants to nearly 200 companies. Following her time with OK Ethics, she dedicated her considerable energy and lifelong passion toward championing diversity and inclusion. Shannon's special talent was seeing people for who they really were and connecting them with others, both likeminded and diverse. She wanted people to talk and connect on a deep level.
Shannon caused "good trouble" while speaking truth to power. She was a fierce advocate in amplifying the voices of marginalized people and, as a published author, used her persuasive writing skills to do so. Having her on your side or at the helm meant a project was as good as done. She was dependable, fiery, compassionate, hardworking, and a close and cherished friend to many. Her impact can be felt all around Oklahoma City and Tulsa. On November 20, 2025, she went to rest in the Lord's care.
A memorial service will be held at St. Luke's Methodist Church on December 13, 2025 at 3:00pm in the Christian Life Center, 222 NW 15th Street, Oklahoma City, OK. Friends and family are invited to attend a reception following the service.
